New Play Area Open

The new and exciting play area at Buxton village hall was opened ready for the half term holiday.  The play area is so well used by all the children in the village and surrounding area.  It’s great to see all the new equipment bringing joy to so many.

Thank you to Mick George for the grant which made this project possible.

Play Area Project!

Buxton with Lamas Parish Council and Buxton Village Hall Management Committee have been working hard behind the scenes on an exciting new project.  Around 18 months ago, we worked with the school children at Buxton Primary in order to understand what they would like to see in a play area.  We already knew that the play area at the village hall was showing signs of how much it has been loved over the years and was in much need of refurbishment.

We took what the children told us to various play area suppliers and asked them to design something new and exciting for the space.  We knew that the mound was much loved and needed to be part of anything new.

We then made a funding application to Mick George Community Fund for £35,000 and are very pleased to say that they have awarded us the funding.  The Parish Council and Buxton Village Hall Management Committee have also financially contributed to the project.

We are so grateful to the Mick George Community Fund for their generous grant, this project would not have been possible without them.

The work is due to start on site on Wednesday 17th November and weather permitting, should be completed on 3rd December. During the construction of the play area, the car park must be closed for public safety.  We thank you for your patience while this work is going on, as we know what a valuable community asset the Village Hall car park is to the whole community.

We hope you all enjoy your new village play area for many years to come and we look forward to seeing lots of children exploring the space very soon!

Vandalism at Balay Park (7th September 2020)

Problems continue at Balay park with lots of smashed glass and huge amounts of litter left all over the site.  Please be careful if you are at the park and make sure shoes are kept on, as you will appreciate, it is impossible to find every shard of glass. If you see anything suspicious, please call the police 101 number and report it.
